Located in downtown Salt Lake City, the Hotel RL by Red Lion is the official hotel of the convention, where most convention activities will take place.

On-site amenities include the Restaurant and Bar By Hotel RL Salt Lake City, featuring modern American fare with a Pacific Northwest twist, and The Living Stage, a concert venue on-site. A fitness center and free bike rentals are also available.

The hotel is located about a mile south of Temple Square, home of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and the Mormon Tabernacle with its famous choir. The Utah State Capitol is two miles to the north. Other nearby attractions include the Pioneer Memorial Museum, which chronicles Utah's Mormon pioneer heritage; the Clark Planetarium; and City Creek and The Gateway urban shopping areas.

The hotel offers a complimentary shuttle to and from Salt Lake City International Airport. Conference attendees also can travel the city by UTA buses or TRAX light-rail lines. Visit RideUTA for maps and schedules.

Rates:

AJHA rates are $145 per night (plus taxes and fees) for a king bed or two queen beds. The AJHA rate is available for Oct. 2-6; please contact the hotel for availability of this rate for nights before or after that booking window. Please book by Sept. 11 to receive the conference rate.

Parking at the hotel is $10 per day.

Reservations:

Reservations can be made online here, or you can book by calling the hotel directly at 1-800-RED-LION (1-800-733-5466) and identifying yourself as an AJHA member to get the conference rate.

All reservations must be accompanied by a first night deposit or guaranteed with a major credit card.

Transportation:

Attendees can fly into Salt Lake City International Airport (8 miles away). The hotel provides free shuttle service; call 801-521-7373 after landing to arrange pick-up.

TRAX rail service is also available from the airport to the hotel. Take the 704 train from the Airport Station toward West Valley Central. Stay on for 10 stops and exit at Courthouse Station. Walk south on Main Street toward 500 S/Cesar E. Chavez Blvd. The hotel is on the left side.

Driving Directions:

  • From the airport: Take I-80 East to I-15 South. Take the 600 South & City Center exit and continue four blocks. The hotel is on the right.
  • From I-15 North: Take 600 South exit, stay in right lane. Follow 600 South to West Temple. The hotel is directly on the right.
  • From I-15 South: Take 400 South exit and travel east. Turn south at 200 West. Turn left at 600 South. The hotel is on the right.
  • From I-80 West: Take 1-15 North  and then exit at 600 South. Stay in right lane. Follow 600 South to West Temple. The hotel is directly on the right.

Navigating in Salt Lake City:

Salt Lake City uses a street grid in which streets are given directional names based on their distance from Temple Square, rather than street names. For example, the convention hotel is on 600 South, which is the east-west street six blocks south of Temple Square, and between 100 and 200 West, which are north-south streets one and two blocks, respectively, west of Main Street. Remember that streets with North and South in their names run east and west; streets with East and West in their names run north and south. Blocks are also very long, so distances may be longer than they appear on a map.
