Donations to American Journalism Historians Association may be dedicated to the following funds:
Graduate student convention travel. Each year, AJHA gives checks to students with papers on the convention program to help defray the cost of traveling to the convention and staying at the convention hotel.
Teaching and research awards. AJHA annually presents the following awards that come with cash prizes: Margaret A. Blanchard Dissertation Prize ($500 top prize, three $200 honorable mentions), National Award for Excellence in Teaching ($500), Rising Scholar Award ($2,000), Joseph McKerns Research Grant (up to four grants of up to $1,250 each), and top convention papers ($250 top faculty paper, $100 top student paper).
Southeastern Review of Journalism History. The American Journalism Historians Associations support this journal, produced by students at Augusta University and consisting mostly of student research. A donation of $15 or more to the Southeastern Review of Journalism History fund entitles the donor to a one-year subscription.
Sponsoring convention events. Convention costs include food for refreshments breaks and special events, as well as convention site and technology fees. Event sponsorships enable AJHA to reduce registration fees for convention attendees.
General operating fund. The general operating fund is used to pay for dues to affiliate organizations, web hosting, and the budgetary needs of AJHA committees.
