The Joint Journalism and Communication History Conference--co-sponsored by the American Journalism Historians Association and the AEJMC History Division--provides a forum for innovative research and ideas from all areas of journalism and communication history and from all time periods.
The one-day interdisciplinary conference offers participants the chance to explore new ideas, garner feedback on their work, and meet colleagues from around the country interested in journalism and communication history in a welcoming environment.
The Joint Journalism and Communication History Conference will be held at Columbia University, 116th and Broadway, New York, NY 10027. The conference is fee is $100.00 and registration is required. Currently enrolled graduate students may attend for free, with an optional lunch charge of $30. Registration closes March 1, 2026.
A tour of the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture will conclude the day. Participants may choose to visit either the Photographs and Prints Division or the Moving Image and Recorded Sound Division to view archives highlighting the work of Ethel Payne, Jill Nelson, Charlayne Hunter-Gault, Michele Wallace, and others. Only 35 participants total can join the tours, so be sure to secure your spot by registering early. Confirmation of tour registration will be emailed to conference attendees after March 1.
