Why join AJHA?
American Journalism Historians Association provides scholars of various facets of mass communication history with networking opportunities, outlets for their scholarship, and research and teaching support.
At our national and regional conventions, scholars receive suggestions and encouragement on their work, connect with fellow scholars who have similar research interests, learn about publication opportunities, and discuss the state of the art in mass communication history research and teaching. The association presents awards and grants that celebrate excellence in research, teaching, and service and fund future projects.
Our online forums and social media pages provide additional opportunities for networking and discussion between events, and our media history resources provide tips and tools for teaching and research.
All members receive a subscription to the quarterly Intelligencer newsletter and academic journal American Journalism. In addition to providing information on the activities of the organization and its members, the Intelligencer contains essays on research, teaching, and other topics of interest to members. American Journalism contains peer-reviewed research articles as well as essays, book reviews, and digital media reviews.
